The connection to retro tech began long before it was called retro.
It all started in the 1980s, with a 286 PC running XTree Gold and Windows 3.0.
I remember when computers felt mysterious. Every new program was something to explore, getting a machine to do what you wanted felt like an achievement, and a floppy disk could hold something important.
Those beige computers, blinking cursors, dial-up sounds, VHS tapes, cassette players and early games weren’t “retro” at the time. They were simply part of growing up - and they sparked a lifelong enthusiasm for technology.
RUZE grew from that connection.
I wanted to create original apparel that captures the personality, humour and optimism of those earlier technological days. Not generic geek merchandise, but designs for people who remember when storage was measured in megabytes, rewinding was expected and troubleshooting was part of the experience.
The shirt itself matters to me just as much as the artwork.
As a broader bloke, I’ve always felt more comfortable in a premium-quality T-shirt with a little extra weight and structure. Thin, clingy tees were never something I enjoyed wearing. I wanted RUZE designs printed on substantial shirts that felt comfortable, sat properly and could be worn again and again.
That’s why RUZE uses heavyweight 220 GSM tees with a comfortable regular fit, available in sizes from S to 5XL.
RUZE is an Australian-owned brand based in Melbourne, starting small and building one original design, one customer and one tee at a time.
If you grew up curious about technology - or simply believe the old machines had more personality - you’re among friends here.
Same tech. Different days.
Welcome to RUZE.
